New state-of-the-art health and well-being technology has been launched at the London Beach Hotel.
Sports fitness guru Simon Shepard, long-time fitness advisor to cricketers in his role as physio at Lords cricket ground, is spearheading the new system, called Firstbeat.
Simon Shepard said: "Firstbeat is a new technology, designed in Finland, that shows how your body is coping through the day and night and gives you the tools to optimise performance and recovery. By using a digital monitor that evaluates the pattern of your heart beat it provides real time data that reflects what is happening in your life, minute by minute, hour by hour. This enables users to analyse how the body is reacting during training and rest. It shows what exercise is using up carbohydrates or fats, meaning someone going to the gym to lose weight can focus on an exercise programme that is perfect for them, ensuring they meet their goals."
London Beach Hotel has become the first, and only, gym in Kent to utilise the technology, and all its members have been offered a free trial of the belt as part of an initial health check assessment. London Beach owner Pierre Edmonds, said: "Health clubs and gyms are a competitive industry and we need to make sure we are offering members, and potential members, the latest technology available to ensure our establishment is ahead of the game. I've used Firstbeat myself and it is an exceptional bit of kit which, combined with Simon's experience and expertise makes it a great way to manage your lifestyle.”
