Captain’s Day at London Beach Golf Club

London Beach staged its ever popular “Captains Charity Day” on Saturday 21st July with the proceeds going to Pilgrim’s Hospice Charity. The field was at maximum capacity - 56 Golfers, play commenced with a 9.00am shotgun start.

After completing the first 9 Holes, players gathered on the terrace overlooking the beautiful Weald of Kent and tucked into a well deserved Breakfast, kindly sponsored by Mr Hoad and “Korkers” Sausages.

Returning on the homeward stretch, we saw some superb golf played especially from Robert Sims (LBGC) who took the honours “Best Individual” with 43 points. This excellent effort assisted his team of Brian Chipperfield (LBGC) Terry Nye (Lamberhurst) and Phil Carter (Dartford) overall team points of 128.

The format for the team competition was slightly different to previous years play. Only 2 scores were recorded for Par 5’s, 3 scores for Par 4’s and 4 scores for Par 3’s. Although this proved difficult for some the Sims team swept the board.

Runners up were:
Colin and Olli George, Matt Tomkins and Mark Ashton with 122 points.
Fraser Allan, Adam Farrall, Shane and Kelvin Stolworthy with 116 points.

A fantastic finale to a fantastic day which will see a very proud Captain, Mr Colin George present a cheque on behalf of all competitors and non-competitors to the amount of two thousand, one hundred and six pounds.
